MDCS 123
Image of Saint James dressed as a pilgrim, from the parish church of Sant Jaume de Ferran, La Segarra. It was discovered embedded in a wall during restoration work on the building.
He wears a hat embellished with a shell, which is also represented on the bag that he is wearing. In his left hand, he holds a large, closed book. In his right, he should be holding the pilgrim’s staff. It is a work from the Catalan school that bears relation to the sculptural works of Jordi de Déu.
