MDCS 228

Image of Saint Lucia wearing a crown and depicting the plate with two eyes, the symbol of her martyrdom. It is made of alabaster and remnants of the original polychromy can still be observed. The folds of the Saint’s mantle that flow gently with her body are an example of the remarkable sculptural work in this piece. The rear is completely smooth, indicating that it would have been attached to something. It is a Catalan work from Santa Llúcia de Granyena, linked to the school of Lleida.
