The scene depicts Jesus falling on the road to Calvary. The painter Antoni Viladomat painted the same subject in the Capella dels Dolors de Santa Maria de Mataró.

It is as though we were looking at a mirror image. Just as with Camí del Calvari  (The Road to Calvary), the painting created for the convent of the Carmelite nuns in Lleida and a replica of the Fourth Station in the Capella dels Dolors de Mataró, where he eliminated certain figures, the author of this painting, Tomàs Viladomat or Pere Puig, did the same here.

All the interest in this work is drawn to the face of Jesus in testimony of his pain.

The other painting, the Flagellation (MDCS 4024), reflects all the drama of the moment. The furious and mocking attitude of the executioners is in stark contrast to the serenity on the face of Jesus.
