One of the most interesting examples of the baroque period lies in Sant Llorenç de Morunys, whose church houses the chapel of La Mare de Déu dels Colls. Work of Josep Pujol i Juhï, this masterpiece was completed in 1784 (having begun in 1773). Baroque decoration fills the entire space of the chapel, which is dedicated to Our Lady. There are three large sculpted Marian themes – the Salve Regina, the Magnificat and the Litany – making it an exceptional work. This was the last great Catalan baroque work. The church also houses other baroque altars and two interesting Gothic altarpieces.
