The shrine of El Miracle was built following the appearance of the Virgin Mary to two shepherds in the area in 1458. Its current construction was commissioned to Vic-born architect, Josep Morató. It is famed for its baroque altarpiece of El Miracle, work of the sculptor Carles Morató, from the last quarter of the 18th century, one of the key exponents of Catalan baroque. There is also a Benedictine monastery attached to Montserrat abbey that was built at the end of the 19th century.
