«L’orant i Miró. Esperit mural»

From April 10 to July 4, 2025, the Museu de Solsona will host the exhibition L’orant i Miró. Esperit mural, curated by Dr. Marta Ricart i Masip.

The exhibition is inspired by a visit Joan Miró made to the museum in April 1951, during which he encountered the pre-Romanesque mural fragment known as L’orant (The Prayer) from Pedret. The exhibition has a dual purpose: to explore Miró’s artistic process from a fresh perspective, and to delve into the collective spirit of mural creation through a journey across the museum’s permanent collection.

The exhibition is structured into four thematic areas spread across various rooms of the museum, from the archaeology section to the mural painting gallery of Sant Vicenç del Rus. The installation embraces the very principles of mural creation it reflects on, placing emphasis on light, space, and rhythm.

The project stems from a 2016 research initiative, when Ricart was awarded the Pilar Juncosa grant from the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró in Palma for her doctoral thesis “In the Process of Making. A Dialogue with the Creative Processes of Joan Miró. The exhibition includes loans of artworks from the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona, the Fundació Pilar and Joan Miró in Mallorca, the Fundació Llorenç Artigas and the Fundació Mas Miró.

The curator will offer guided tours in Catalan on April 27, May 17, June 14, and June 28. Places are limited and prior registration is required.

The main texts of the exhibition are available in Catalan, Spanish, and English.
