This portal led to a spiral staircase of the apse of the church of Santa Maria de Solsona. The tympanum takes on the figure of a griffin, framed by semicircular moulding that served as the archivolt.
In Romanesque sculpture, the griffin is synonymous with vigilance. It is therefore logical to see its figure sculpted on doors. Technically, its forms are fashioned with clean and perfect lines.
Removed from the rear of the choir stalls of the cathedral, this door led to a spiral staircase that connected the presbytery with the roof terrace.
